Abstract: Localisation has become a major need for the routing and processing of data collected by wireless sensor network. However, equipping all network nodes with GPS is not obvious and is a costly operation in terms of money and energy consumption. Furthermore, GPS is not intended to be deployed inside buildings. Most localisation solutions proposed by the literature use some nodes as anchors to get other nodes to be localised. These techniques require a high number of anchors and/or a high density of nodes, and despite this, a high percentage of nodes cannot be localised with good accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new range-free technique to localise nodes in sensor networks. The proposed technique can locate more nodes with better accuracy than existing range-free approaches. The proposed technique is more suitable for urban deployment, especially for smart parking lots. We proved its performance by experimenting with the MATLAB simulator.
