Abstract: This paper presents a comparative analysis of dual evaporator systems and two separate systems (Air Conditioning + Refrigerator) in mobility applications, especially, automobiles. The results indicate that the savings of 20.33%, 18.67%, 18.03% in work and 20.36%, 15.70%, and 18.30% in fuel consumption, respectively, with R1234yf, R1243zf, and R134a are obtained for the proposed dual evaporator systems in comparison to two separate systems. The highest and lowest compressor work of 5.745 kW and 4.178 kW is obtained, respectively, for two separate systems with R1234yf and dual evaporator systems with R134a. Additionally, the two separate systems consume maximum fuel of 1.685 kg/h with R1234yf while the dual evaporator system consumes the highest fuel up to 1.369 kg/h with R1243zf. Consequently, a dual evaporator system is found to be more efficient and economical as not only losses are reduced but running cost is also reduced due to lower fuel consumption.
