Abstract: Competition and demand for readily feasible, durable, and sustainable goods are increasing worldwide. The last few months have been challenging for the manufacturing organisations world over. Organisations are turning to approaches such as computer-integrated manufacturing, lean, agile, Industry 4.0, and supply chain management to address these challenges. Leagile manufacturing combines the concepts of lean and agile production systems. Using popular relational techniques such as interpretive structural modelling (ISM) and interpretive ranking process (IRP), this paper aims to assess and present the critical criteria for implementing the leagile production system. ISM and IRP have been employed to examine the contextual relationship among the requirements for a leagile production system and suggest a prioritised implementation of these criteria concerning relevant key performance indicators. This study is among the first to employ two interpretive methodologies to establish contextual relationships among the critical criteria of the leagile production system and provide a leagile implementation framework.

Keywords: agile; interpretive structural modelling; ISM; interpretive ranking process; IRP; leagile; manufacturing.
