Abstract: Complex products exhibit traits such as variety, a long-lifecycle, a difficult-to-verify design, strong target orientation, dynamic nature, a complex operational environment and state. Current product lifecycle management (PLM) systems place a greater emphasis on new product development and innovation. PLM is considered a combination of managerial, technological, and collaborative approaches, that aid in managing each phase of the product. The Indian defence industry, which is still in its infancy, has started manufacturing various complex defence systems as a result of its changing national policy. Some of these systems are in the mature phase, while others will shortly be in this phase. Complex systems have distinct challenges throughout their lifecycle. Using expert interviews and the DEMATEL technique, this study investigates critical aspects required for the prolonged mature phase of complex products. The study will help businesses and industries that use complex products with long usage lives.
