Abstract: Over the past few decades domestic financial remittance has considerably increased in India. However, migrants residing in urban areas face many issues in remitting money to far and distant places. In this respect the significance of mobile banking should be highlighted to disseminate various banking services in places of poor financial access. Considering this backdrop, the purpose of this paper is to study the impact of mobile banking in domestic remittance by poor residing in urban slums of Delhi. The empirical models were studied through probit and tobit regression. This paper suggests a significant role of mobile banking in domestic remittances of money by poor. The research findings are useful to various banks and policymakers in improving mobile banking services for financial remittance by poor in urban areas.
Keywords: domestic remittance; financial inclusion; mobile banking; urban slums.
