Abstract: Powered Two-Wheelers (PTW) are a popular and affordable mode of transportation in India, with over 160 million PTW registered as of 2020. However, accidents involving PTW users account for 158,964 (43.7% of overall accidents). To mitigate the accident rate assisting systems like Rider Assisting System, Curve Warning System and Balance Assisting System can provide the best in assistance. This review article examines the potential benefits and challenges of implementing assisting systems for PTW. Different causes for accidents are classified into primary factors influenced by human-vehicle interaction: controllable factors and secondary factors influenced by vehicle-environmental interaction: uncontrollable factors. Additionally, this review provides the importance of future research, in incorporating advanced technologies includes self-balancing system and vehicle intelligence to enhance rider safety co-relating the accident dynamics. Overall, this paper emphasises the need for a comprehensive approach to PTW safety that involves technology and infrastructure interventions, aligning with the growing implications of PTW.
