Title: Measuring the activity of the population of Russian regions in the global online labour market

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to identify the most active regions of Russia in terms of the involvement of the local population in the field of freelancing, as well as to identify the main factors contributing to this. The authors found out that the frequency of search queries for keywords corresponding to the names of popular digital freelance platforms reflects the ratio of their number in various regions and regions of the country. The authors also determined that economic factors are not paramount in the formation of the workforce in the online labour market, but this is influenced by parameters such as the employment and education of the population, as well as the degree of urbanisation of regions. Based on these indicators, a cluster analysis was carried out to classify regions in terms of the local population's involvement in the freelancing field.
