Abstract: This paper develops research for fostering a global value chain through a green economy. Our analysis explores how green growth in terms of efficient resource use, natural capital protection, green economic opportunities, and social inclusion challenges and enhances the global value chain activities in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). We use a panel dataset covering 15 RCEP countries from 2010-2019 and a panel quantile regression technique with non-additive fixed effects. The findings reveal that green economic opportunities have a positive and significant impact on the global value chain in RCEP, whereas efficient resource use and natural capital protection have a negative and significant impact. The empirical results also offer insights into the backward and forward global value chains, thereby contributing to the future global value chain. Finally, this study provides policy implications for the quality of the global value chain in a green economy.
