Title: Diagnosis of the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on companies in the São Lourenço region

Abstract: Since the arrival of the pandemic in Brazil, with the first case confirmed on 26 February 2020, several actions have been taken by governments to reduce the transmission of the disease and prepare the health system to receive the most severely infected. Among these actions are the social distancing, closure of non-essential economic activities, adoption of the home office system, suspension of in-person classes, among others. The fight against the proliferation of the pandemic brought impacts of the most varied in various sectors and segments of the economy around the world, being more profound in small businesses. The objective of this diagnosis is to demonstrate the impact caused by the pandemic on companies in the São Lourenço region. Methodologically, the study was characterised by a qualitative and quantitative approach, interpretive epistemology and inductive logic. Data collection occurred through an online survey and 96 entrepreneurs participated in the study.
