Abstract: The accessibility of the railway has expanded as the population has grown, and controlling the level crossing in an unmanned automated way is necessary to ensure the safety of the public. This paper proposes an automatic railway level crossing control system. This level crossing is automated and checks the presence of any obstacles when the railway gate is closed, and a train is approaching. When railway gates are closed, an Ultrasonic (US) sensor is used to monitor the presence of any obstacle in between the railway gates. An Infrared (IR) sensor is also used only to check whether the train has entered or passed away from that restricted area of the railway gate zone. The infrared sensor and ultrasonic sensor used in the proposed model have achieved accuracy up to 99.02% and 99.06% respectively.
