Abstract: According to international relations, 'world order' refers to the character and aims of human life, observed and analysed beyond just war and violence, encompassing issues like income inequality, social injustice, environmental imbalance, and human alienation. It can also be termed as 'global order', incorporating state-to-state relations, international institutions, governments, and organisations. The nation-state is the basic unit under international order, while global order focuses on human activities in general. The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered a global crisis, prompting policymakers worldwide to collaborate on socio-economic solutions for a post-pandemic future. This article examines the pandemic's impact on the current world order, identifies key variables shaping the post-COVID-19 world, and explores India's potential role in forging a new global order. Understanding the term 'world order' itself is crucial before delving into these discussions.
