Abstract: This review article describes preparations and properties of new types of water-based cutting fluids derived from various materials. It is concerned with synthetic additives classified according to their functional groups: carboxylic acids, esters, dibasic acids, ethers, amides, substituted fatty acids and others for iron materials. Some anti-corrosion additives for aluminium materials are described on half esters, Diels-Alder adducts, dibasic acids and phosphoric esters.
Keywords: synthetic additives; aluminium materials; anti-rust property; iron materials; lubricity property; water-soluble cutting fluids; lubrication; carboxylic acids; esters; dibasic acids; ethers; amides; substituted fatty acids; anti-corrosion additives; corrosion protection.
