Abstract: Slovenian SMEs are confronting increasing claims for accountability regarding environmental and social performance. To determine how environmentally responsible Slovenian SMEs were, in the period just before joining the EU (in May 2004), some aspects of their environmental management systems were investigated. The findings give some insights into the complexity of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the SME context.
