Abstract: Organic Solar Cells (OSC) have received increasing attention over the last few years for their potential technological applications as well as fundamental science. To increase the part of the incident light which is absorbed in the photoactive layer, optical properties of the cell are critical and should be optimised. In this paper, we review how photonics has stimulated researches and news experimental approaches to improve photovoltaic conversion in OSC. Solutions used to confine the light in the device are described and new architectures of organic solar cell are presented.
