Abstract: New product development is regarded as an important strategy which can lead to a corporation|s long-term success, and enormous amounts of resources are being invested in it annually. Corporations often emphasize their potential in product innovation in their annual reports to shareholders. Managing new product development, and in particular performance evaluation of an on-going project, is thus an important issue in many corporations. This paper provides the dimensions of performance evaluation, as well as the measurement criteria for each of the dimensions and the details of how the corresponding performance indices are formulated. Experience in the development of consumer electronics products is used as a basis.
