Abstract: This paper presents the main results of a project intended to improve the design of the interior patient care space of Intensive Care Units (ICUs) of the Medical Emergency Services of the Madrid (Spain) Regional Government (SUMMA 112). For that purpose, data and criteria were gathered from health workers, with which an optimisation model was developed to obtain a solution where all the medical-health materials and equipment were located for performing the more critical and frequent operations in the shortest possible time, without health workers| interferences and with material as close as possible to the one to use it.
