Abstract: The longitudinal stability characteristics of a wing-in-ground effect (WIG) craft are quite different from that of conventional airplane due to the existence of ground effect. The effects of design parameters including wing section, stabiliser, wing planform and endplate on longitudinal static stability of WIG craft were studied based on numerical results. Contributions of these parameters on stabilising the WIG craft by shifting the aerodynamic centres in pitch and height were discussed respectively. The present study resulted in deep understanding of relationship between longitudinal static stability and WIG craft configuration, provided references for designers and operators of WIG craft theoretically.
