Title: Powder materials with ultrafine structure: strength and superplasticity

Abstract: The peculiarities of ultrafine powder compaction and sintering are described in brief. This problem is linked with the development of materials with ultrafine structure. The strength and hardness of such Cu and Ni samples are reviewed. The possibility of superplastic deformation as applied to refractory compounds is discussed. Superplasticity has been revealed in Si3N4-TiB2 materials with ultrafine structure. The influence of grain size on phase diagrams is also discussed.
