Abstract: In the field of treament of metallic surfaces in processing industry, new vistas are opened up by laser beam as a universal tool without physical contact between the tool and the workpiece. Since the generation of laser beam has a low efficiency, therefore the overall efficiency of the laser beam treatment is influenced – to a considerable effect – by the energy absorbed by the workpiece, which in turn has an effect on the quality and economics of the treatment, too. For this reason, the interaction between the CO2 laser beam of a wavelength of 10.6µm and the workpiece was examined for the case of different surface-coating substances. The examinations were carried out with the help of thermovision band-filtered to a wavelength of 10.6µm .
Keywords: surface coatings; laser treatment.
