Abstract: Twelve N-(dialkylphenyl)maleimides were prepared and screened for antimicrobial activity against fungi, yeasts and bacteria. N-(2.6-Dialkylpheny1)-2.3- dichloromaleimide showed excellent antimicrobial activity against gram positive bacteria, and N-(dimethylpheny1)-2.3-dichloromaleimide showed antimicrobial activity against fungi.
Keywords: Antimicrobial activity; N-(alkylphenyl) maleimide; antifungal activity; antibacterial activity; minimum inhibitory concentration; preservative.
