Abstract: The aim of this paper is to investigate the entropy generation in a flow over a flat plate with slip-flow boundary layers. Laminar flow at steady state is considered with two different forms of thermal boundary conditions, i.e., constant heat flux and constant temperature at wall. The effects of viscous dissipation, velocity slip and temperature jump at wall have been taken into consideration. Entropy generation was shown to decrease with an increase in the value of K, while increasing Br, Br/φ and Pr results in increasing the entropy generation.
Keywords: laminar boundary layers; second law; thermodynamics; Knudsen number; slip-flow; temperature jump; heat transfer; flat plates; entropy generation; laminar flow; constant heat flux; constant temperature; viscous dissipation; velocity slip.
