Abstract: Brazil developed a very dynamic defence industry in the 1980s. The changing global geopolitical scenario in the 1990s forced a number of Brazilian defence industries to engage in conversion strategies. Brazilian defence companies have dramatically revamped their business strategies since they implemented conversion strategies. Over the past ten years, Brazilian defence companies| emphasis on continuous innovation, coupled with indigenous technological efforts, have demonstrated that conversion strategies can enable defense companies to become meaningful players in the global economy.
