Abstract: Throughput maximisation is a key challenge in cognitive radio ad hoc networks (CRAHNs). To achieve this objective, this paper proposes a novel cross-layer design aims to maximise the network throughput by performing the interactions by jointing distributed routing, relay selection, dynamic spectrum access and multi-hop MAC protocol optimisation scheme. In this framework, adjacent second users exchange access policies with neighbours, and according to policy gradient, each local second user adjusts its own access policy till the system of networks obtains an optimum joint access policy. Also, the proposed scheme considers the presence of the collisions and dynamic sensing errors. Simulation results show that not onlydoes it avoid frequent collision of both the primary and secondary users, but also improve throughout the spectrum efficiency of the network.
