Abstract: At the Institute for Applied Mechanics of the Technical University of Munich, several specialised computer programs have been developed for the vibrational analysis of powertrains. This article focuses on the mechanical models of timing chain drives (included in KETSIM), continuously variable transmission gears using belts or chains as well as gears (in DYNAS), the cosimulation of different computer codes including hydraulics (HYSIM) and the optimisation of highly complex multidisciplinary systems. The programs stated above are in use for numerous industrial applications and have been verified by many comparisons between measurement and simulation. A mathematical optimisation has been added and is shown to give good results.
