International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies
Special Issue on: “Information Systems: The New Research Agenda, the Emerging Curriculum and the New Teaching Paradigm”
Guest Editor: Dr. Miltiadis Lytras, University of Patras, Greece
The information systems discipline, in the context of computing and information science, has played a key role in the promotion of the vision of the knowledge society. The discipline faces new challenges today. New emerging technologies, as well as matured approaches for the social, technical and developmental role of IS, provide a new context for the evolution of the discipline in the coming years.
At the same time, academia and industry are seeking convergence in the development and exploitation of sound propositions in terms of theory, applications and technologies. As in every discipline, formal education is having a key role in the discourse. This special issue has a clear strategy. We want to develop relevant knowledge and to promote fresh ideas for a new teaching paradigm in IS education.
Subject CoverageBased on the strategy above, this double issue is therefore organised around three thematic areas:
- The new research agenda for information systems and integration with the classical IS curriculum
- The emerging curriculum for IS
- The new teaching paradigm and teaching case studies
Types of submission:
- Position articles [2500-4000 words]
- Research articles [5000-6000 words]
- Empirical surveys [3000-5000 words]
- Teaching cases [5000-8000 words (with teaching guidelines)]
