Special Issue on: “A Globalisation Lens: Institutional and Technological Changes for Food Security”

Globalisation is a widely-used concept that stresses the increasing role of cross-border activities for human welfare across the globe. This is not limited to economic factors, such as international trade and foreign direct investment, but extends to other human activities such as knowledge, institutions and culture.
This Special Issue of IJARGE intends to gather a set of papers exploring the interactions between institutional, technological changes and food security within a system of increasing cross-border activities. It seeks to promote communication among policy makers, experts and professionals in government, industry, academia and civil society.
Subject CoverageRelevant topics for invited papers include but are not limited to:
- Research and development, technology partnerships, research networks, systems of innovation, institutional and organisational innovation
- International trade and competitiveness, direct investment and technology, and transfer, intellectual property protection
- International rule-making, international cooperation, international technology policy and transfer, technology standardisation
- Globalisation and inequality, liberalisation-decentralisation-privatisation reforms, WTO negotiations, commodity markets
- Patent laws, farmers’ rights, global food supply; genetically modified organisms and labeling, laws inhibiting imports of gene-foods; food safety and public health
- Globalisation of food systems – effects of urbanisation, economic growth, and foreign direct investment on food security, health and nutrition
- Changes facilitated by new food production patterns: new food processing and storage technologies, the emergence of food retailers, advertising and marketing strategies
- Bio-technology and global food security, institutions for promoting biotechnology
- Biotechnology and industrial agriculture: role of technology diffusion in household and world food security
- Globalisation and health: imbalances in power throughout the food chain and food insecurity, public intervention to promote food security

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere
