Abstract/Summary: Manufacturers understand the necessity and the competitive advantages of delivering, to their industrial customers, the full range of product information, data and documentation, electronically and in a digital format. Despite this recognition, however, there are few companies that are able to do this satisfactorily. In large companies with a global manufacturing footprint, distributed product responsibilities and long internal supply chains the challenges are organizational as well as technical. There is a need for an approach that is standard yet flexible and can be implemented at low cost. We introduce such an approach in this paper.
