Abstract/Summary: Product lifecycle management (PLM) is an important approach to manage information and knowledge necessary in the processes of the product life cycle, thus it is usually linked with knowledge management (KM). This paper focuses on knowledge assessing in PLM, discussing how knowledge effects product development in PLM and how to assess the value of knowledge. Based on theoretical modeling and detailed illustrations, a general knowledge assessing model has been proposed which could serve as an effective infrastructure for knowledge assessing issues in PLM.
