Abstract/Summary: I travelled to some countries in Africa and Asia and what I witness during my visits, that's our banks are still far behind compared to Banks in those countries, in term of information system, the problem of the limited usage of information technology in banking sector and applications to provide better services to the customers, as well reduce the operating cost. In this presentation I will compare others countries' usage of information system in the banking sector with banks in Sudan. I believe the banking sector in Sudan has a problem of not being able to compete with in the region unless there are clear steps adapted for the short and long term. I think the central bank should take further responsibly in contribution to technology transfer by establishing interbanking body that's links all the banks to the computer network that's handle online banking, ATM's transitions and clearing as well encourage banks to have a long term and short term plan to join the interbanking system to be achieved within the next 5 years or so.
