Abstract: The paper aims at investigating health information technologies impacts on electronic business in quality and revenue hospitals. Specifically, first, a hospital electronic customer chain (HECC) model is built to analyse details on how health information technologies are integrated in the hospital business to improve quality and revenue. Second, the HECC model was further decomposed to derive standardised electronic business solutions. Data was collected from two groups of hospitals with succeeding on quality and revenue, respectively. Third, a comparison was conducted to investigate the electronic business implementation pattern in both quality and revenue groups. The results from two-sample t-test show that the majority of the e-business solutions of the revenue group have the average score less than or equal to that of the quality group. The findings will help hospitals to accelerate the health information technologies adoption in the hospital electronic business. Theoretical and practical implications are also presented.
