Abstract: Increasing global energy demands result in energy scarcities and environmental pollution, so there is huge demand for renewable energy resources. To fulfil this energy demand, we proposed an innovative method of producing bioelectricity from vegetable and fruit wastes using a microbial fuel cell. These cells are bioreactors that convert chemical energy from inorganic or organic components to electrical energy through catalytic reactions of microbes. Anaerobic breakdown of carbohydrates present in waste material by microbes, promotes the entire process. At room temperature, six different microbial fuel cell setups have been established, three of which are varied by the number of days, and the remaining three by the volume of sample. Out of six setups, a setup that was kept for ten days and another setup containing 800 mL of sample, produce a voltage of 3 V. It performs a dual role by producing water molecules along with bioelectricity production.
