Abstract: At a time when the management of private FM radio stations is diligently focusing on developing their own language standards to engage maximum listeners, the present study offers a way to understand various dimensions of their language standards. The objective of the study was to decipher the changing language trends of private radio stations. To achieve the goal, three private FM radio stations situated in Delhi with wider reach were selected for the study. Their one week-long program was analysed through content analysis. It finds out that the radio stations have majorly switched over to coded language - codes created by the radio station - as means of communication. The study further analyses their communication management to popularise their coded language among listeners through phone-in programs. The significance of the study is that it helps to understand the simple meaning of the coded language used by the radio station.
