Isolation efficiency of the EV seat's suspension using the various NSE modes

Abstract: To compare the efficiency of the operator's seat suspension of the electric vehicles using the control isolation systems, vehicle's control isolations and seat suspension equipped with negative-stiffness-element designed by tuned-mass-damper (C-TMD-NSE) and air-piston (C-AP-NSE) are proposed to improve the operator's ride quality. The vehicle's vibration model has been built based on excitations from road surfaces and in-wheel motors. The efficiency of C-TMD-NSE and C-AP-NSE is estimated through the reduction of the root-mean-square acceleration of the operator's seat (aws). The results indicate that C-TMD-NSE and C-AP-NSE embedded in the vehicle's isolation systems ameliorate ride quality better than without C-NSE. Besides, aws with C-AP-NSE is also decreased compared to C-TMD-NSE under the changes of road surfaces and total mass of the in-wheel motor and rotor's eccentricity. Particularly, aws with C-AP-NSE is smaller than that of C-TMD-NSE by 27%. Thus, the C-AP-NSE could be supported into seat's suspension to ameliorate vehicle's ride efficiency.
