Abstract: Impact assessment reviews are growing in popularity in both the public and private sectors. Successful impact assessment hinges on: (1) buy-in to the model and approaches used by involving all key stakeholders at the earliest stages in what is to be assessed and why; (2) believability of procedures and outcomes built on a well-researched, credible information gathering and reporting process; and (3) buyers of the process and results which is contingent on attention to the previous two elements and good application, dissemination and promotion. A recent application by The Canada Centre for Remote Sensing, Natural Resources Canada serves as a model.
