International Journal of Automation and Control (IJAAC), Vol. 3, No. 4, 2009

Abstract: This paper illustrates a mathematical analysis of mechanical vibrations, induced in hoisting mechanisms driven voltage-controlled three-phase induction motors. A new closed-loop control system for minimising torsional vibrations is proposed. The proposed control system is based on incorporating a feedback of the speed difference of both masses. A formula for calculating the optimum feedback gain of the speed difference is derived. A mathematical model of the proposed two-mass mechatronic system is developed. Using this developed model, the effect of the proposed control system on the shape of the system transient is illustrated and analysed.
