Abstract: This paper presents the development of a steering and suspension system of a half car model subject to irregular excitation from a road profile by using fuzzy reasoning and skyhook dampers. The steering angles of front/rear wheels are independently determined by using fuzzy reasoning based on single input rule modules (SIRMs). The active controls at front/rear suspension locations are denoted as skyhook dampers. The simulation result indicates that the proposed steering and suspension system is very effective in the performance of vehicle manoeuverability and ride comfort.
