Polymerisation of phenols in concentrated perchloric acid

Abstract: Resorcinole and phenols form polymeric compounds in 70% HClO₄, solutions. These polymers are insoluble in HCl0₄, and their formation may take several months. Due to different degrees of polymerisation several products were identified by chromatographic methods in both resorcinole and phenol-HClO₄ systems.
