Abstract: Mo5(Si, Al, Ti)3C-TiC reinforced alloying layer was fabricated by laser alloying of the Mo-Al-Fe+TiC-SiC+Y2O3 mixed powders on pure Ti in an open system. Experimental results indicated that the precipitates, such as Mo5(Si, Al, Ti)3C and TiC were able to withstand the external normal load, which decreased the wear volume loss of laser alloying layer. And SiC-Y2O3 played an important role in refining the microstructure of alloying layer. An improvement of wear resistance of titanium surface was obtained under the actions of the hard precipitates and fine grain strengthening.
