Abstract: The objectives of this paper are to overview and analyse the technological and social approaches of the IoT application areas. Applying things, which are connected in networks, could revolutionise many industry and service sectors thus creating new service provisions and administration methods based on information technology. Practical cases show that the applicability potential for IoT is wide; however, technological basis, legal regulation and the value to the end-user are the fields worth discussing in order to better understand the possible positive and negative aspects of the technology.
