Abstract: Wireless technologies in the last decade or so have attracted unprecedented attention from wireless service providers, developers, vendors, and users. The breathtaking evolution of wireless technologies, services and business applications has resulted in a wide-scale deployment and usage of wireless and mobile networks. The paper discusses mobile and wireless networks in terms of services, technical evolution, and related issues. Industries such as transportation and logistics, financial services, health services, and many others should be able to improve their performance by implementing wireless mobile technologies.
