Development of employees' evaluation and motivation systems in Czech NGO

Abstract: Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) went through a major development in management approach in the last ten years. NGOs professionalise their management by introducing systems and processes, because until now, NGOs have been intuitively managed by natural leaders. Systematic HR work is projected into formal management of the performance of the employees with a goal to maintain and increase the quality of the services. The quality of the services provided and the company's sustainability is supported by feedback towards the employees and managing their professional and personal growth. This paper evaluates the quantitative data from a ten-year long survey (2007-2017) amongst Czech NGOs in the area of HRM. The quantitative data are complemented by qualitative semi-structured interviews with NGOs' managing directors. The authors ask a question: Can the approach of non-profit organisations to worker evaluation and systematic monitoring of their motivation be seen as progressive? Based on the results of the survey and semi-structured interviews, NGOs approach toward worker evaluation and systematic monitoring of their motivation can be seen as progressive.
